Anandam Anandame is a 1970 Tamil movie by A.P. Nagarajan. The film stars Ravichandran, Rati Agnihotri and Kanchana in the lead roles. It is an adaptation of the 1969 English novel 'The Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown.[1] The basic storyline revolves around Maria, an art student who finds certain discrepancies in the famous paintings of Leonardo da Vinci and seeks to find answers with her mentor Professor Sunny Fernandes(played by MGR). The film starts with Maria being plagued by an unknown visitor who later turns out to be her once lover Manju. The story then takes a turn as she finds out that she is part of a cult, the Priory of Sion, by the name of the Magi who are searching for something called the Holy Grail. The movie has some glaring flaws in its storyline. Based on the novel "Le Diamant du Loup", which is an adaptation of Dan Brown's 1992 novel "The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail". The film was directed by A.P. Nagarajan and produced by Gemini Film Corporation for Gemini Studios. The screenplay was written by C. S. Rao, based on Dan Brown's novel "The Da Vinci Code". All songs are provided by T. G. Lingappa & A. Kalyanamurthy except 'Thani Thandi Thakali Nyalkulam' which is written by Kannadasan & Muthulingam Pandiyan.[2] Nizhalgal Ravi's songs are not listed in the film credits because they are not studio recorded but only in the music video which was shot in Malaysia at a local musical score studio under his direction. The music was composed by T. G. Lingappa and L. R. Eswaran. Songs were sung by T. G. Lingappa, P. Suseela, Nizhalgal Ravi, Gangai Amaren, Jikki & Kavitha Krishnamurthy except 'Azhagu Varumai' & 'Varumai Muni' which were sung by Pazhani Ashokavadivelu, Saindhavi & Kalyani Sreedharan respectively.[2] The movie was released on 4 April 1970. Theatre owners refused to show the film because of its huge budget. The film won the President's Gold Medal for Best Feature Film in Tamil from the National Film Awards. Other awards included a nomination for Best Actress at Nandi Awards 1972, and a nomination for Best Female Playback Singer at Vijay Awards 1971 for 'Thani Thandi Thakali'. This movie inspired a stage play by K. Srinivasan based on the same titled novel by Dan Brown. The play was staged in November 2008 during the Chennai International Music Conference organised by Marudhana Arts Club, Chennai. cfa1e77820
